Wealth Statistics...793 Billionaires in the world!

According to Forbes 20th Annual List of the Richest People published in 2006, there are 793 billionaires in the world!

Here is a breakdown of three countries profiled at the Billionaire Bootcamp.

USA
2006, average income was $35,499
37 million people live below the poverty line
2006, 26.7 million millionaires
2006, 371 billioniares in the US

Australia
2006, average income was $43,108 (AUD)
1 million plus live below the poverty lilne
2006, over 146,000 millionaires
2006, 11 billionaires

United Kingdom
2006, average income was $28,400 (GBP)
13 million plus live below poverty line
2006, 376 millionaires
2006, 24 billionaires

Interesting how in Australia, the average income was higher with less poverty, but there were many less millionaires and billionaires!

Here is what I thought very fascinating:
  • If you have an annual income of $20,000 in the U.S., you are in the top 11.1% richest people in the world.
  • If you have an annual income of $50,000 U.S., you are in the top .8999% richest people in the world.
  • If you have an annual income of $100,000 U.S., you are in the top .6% richest people in the world.
Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

So how do you stack up against these stats? Do you have the desire to do what it takes to be a millionaire? A Billionaire?
